Noise heard from system when playing a CD

In certain situations, movement of the CD playback mechanism may be heard; While in other situations, noises heard while playing a CD would not be normal.

Determine if the noise is occurring during playback of the last track on the disc.

During playback, the system is continuously loading the data being read off the disc and storing it into a playback buffer. This buffer prevents audio interruptions during playback. When the disc reading mechanism has finished buffering the data of the last track, the mechanism returns to its home position. If the audio at the end of the last track is very quiet or the volume of the system is very low, the movement of the disc mechanism may be heard.

Make sure there are no obstructions on the disc, like an attached label.

Labels could prevent a disc from spinning properly (i.e. if the label is dettaching or making contact somewhere in the systems.) Try another disc without a label.

Try a different disc.

Check if other discs play in your system to determine if the issue is related to one or certain discs or disc types.
