Remote won't control music app
If you are unable to use your Bose remote to control playback commands (i.e. play/pause and skip track) in a mobile phone or computer audio application, view the following:
Be sure the music application is selected.
Certain music programs only allow the remote to control it when the application is selected and in the foreground on your computer.
If you're not using Windows Media Player or iTunes, be sure they are not open.
When using the SoundLink USB key, your computer prioritizes playback controls for Windows Media Player (WMP) or iTunes. If either is open and you are trying to use a different audio app, close WMP or iTunes.
Not all audio playback programs are supported
The system is designed to send basic AVRCP commands from the system to the SoundLink/Wave Bluetooth®, which control the basic transport controls of the playback program running on the PC or Mac. Not all audio playback programs, especially those run from inside a browser window, will be able to accept and interpret these commands.
